ICON Joins ‘Let America Build’ to Help Modernize How America Builds
ICON has joined Let America Build, a national public awareness campaign focused on helping America build more, build faster, and build smarter. Founding participants span the real estate and building industries, including Realtor.com, Zillow, the National Association of Home Builders, Habitat for Humanity, Veterans United, eXp Realty and NextHome, HomeServices of America, Land Use Labs, T3 Sixty, RISMedia, and leading professional associations.
The campaign grew out of a Realtor.com initiative first introduced at SXSW in 2025. It now operates as an industry-wide effort to inform the public, elevate housing supply as a shared priority, and encourage fact-based conversations about the local actions that make building possible. At LetAmericaBuild.org, Americans can explore real-world examples of how land use, permitting, housing types, and construction methods shape supply in their own communities.
ICON’s support
ICON has spent nearly a decade proving that the way America builds can change. Since delivering the first permitted 3D-printed home in the United States in 2018, ICON has built 270 homes and structures across multiple states and two countries, including communities for families, housing for people exiting homelessness, and the largest Department of Defense deployment of robotic construction in history at Fort Bliss. This year, ICON made its Titan construction system commercially available, putting multi-story robotic construction directly in the hands of builders.
That experience has taught us something the Let America Build campaign puts front and center. Technology can build faster, stronger, and with less waste, but it can only move as fast as the permitting, zoning, and code systems around it allow. A home that prints in days can still wait months for approval. Modernizing how communities approve and build housing is what turns better construction technology into more homes on the ground.
The scale of the need is clear. America faces a housing supply gap of more than 4 million homes, according to Realtor.com research, and the National Association of Home Builders estimates that regulation, fees, and related costs add more than 26% to the price of an average new single-family home. Zillow research found that building a single home on each of the more than 300,000 small vacant lots listed for sale could reduce the national housing deficit by 6.3%.
Modern methods belong in the conversation
Let America Build calls on communities to cut unnecessary delays, open up underused land, allow a wider range of housing types, and embrace modern, efficient ways to build. ICON's role in the campaign is to show what that last piece looks like in practice. Robotic construction, intelligent software, and advanced materials like FormCrete are already delivering resilient, high-performance homes, and builders adopting Titan can take on more projects with smaller crews and more predictable schedules.
The recently enacted 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act gives states and localities new tools, flexibility, and incentives to support housing. The next phase happens locally, in the permit offices, planning commissions, and city councils that decide what gets built, where, and how quickly. ICON wants to help those decision-makers see that advanced construction technology is ready now and that clearing the path for it is one of the most direct ways to add supply.
Building together
No single company, method, or policy will close a gap of this size. It will take builders, lenders, agents, technologists, nonprofits, and local leaders working in the same direction. ICON is proud to stand with this coalition and to bring the perspective of a company that builds every day with the technology the campaign is calling for.
