ICON Co-founder and CEO Named to 'TIME 100 Next'
Jason Ballard featured on TIME’s list of emerging leaders shaping the future.
TIME’S LIST OF THE NEXT 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD
Today, TIME Magazine announced Jason Ballard, co-founder and CEO of ICON, as one of the 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism, and more in the 2021 TIME 100 Next list.
An expansion of the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world, TIME 100 Next featured special tributes by TIME 100 alumni and notable figures. Ballard’s special tribute was penned by Bjarke Ingels and is set to appear in the March 1 / March 8 issues of TIME, available on newsstands on Friday, February 19, and now at time.com/next.
When TIME first published the TIME 100 list of the world’s most influential people 15 years ago, it was dominated by individuals who rose through traditional power structures: heads of state, CEOs of public companies, actors from big-budget blockbusters, leaders of global foundations.
The TIME 100 Next members all have grand ambitions, and they know they may face even greater setbacks. But by and large, “they are driven by hope,” says TIME executive editor Dan Macsai, who oversees the TIME 100 franchise. “They are eager to defy the odds—and fight for a better future.”
“I am honored to be recognized in the 2021 TIME 100 Next and was quite deeply moved to find that Bjarke Ingles took the time to write such kind words about this work,” said Ballard. “We are creating these advanced construction technologies in the belief that they can advance humanity. All of my work is in the hope that not only can we use ICON’s technology to solve great problems, but that this technology will open the path to some of our grandest opportunities.”
Ballard has dedicated his life to working on big problems in service to humanity. Prior to co-founding ICON, the construction technologies company shifting the paradigm of homebuilding with 3D printing technology, Ballard served as CEO of an eco-friendly home upgrade company that normalized sustainable and healthy approaches to home improvement. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Ballard worked at a homeless shelter, in various roles in sustainable building, and as an environmental consultant for ACRT.
