As ICON’s first employee focused exclusively on the government market, you will build the go-to-market strategy and the team to service global public sector customers across the defense, space, development, and government-supported housing verticals. You will be the P&L owner for our public sector business, responsible for accelerating growth, driving execution, and meeting bookings and revenue targets. You will build ICON’s public sector team and establish the processes required to compliantly service that market at scale. You will also work cross-functionally with software engineering, hardware engineering, and implementation teams to ensure that current customers are delighted and that the product roadmap supports future growth objectives. The expected start date is Q1 2021.
Serve as a member of the leadership team
Win business both with public sector agencies in the United States and overseas through effective business development, sales, and partnerships
Serve as the principal interface for ICON in conversations with U.S. civilian and military leaders, members of Congress and their staffs, and international government representatives
Build the public sector team by recruiting talented individuals who are passionate about ICON’s mission, committed to our core values, and well-versed in growing government-facing businesses
Establish the legal, contractual, and pricing frameworks to scale ICON’s public sector business
Act as a spokesperson for ICON with media publications and at events
10 or more years of relevant work experience
Experience building and leading teams
Experience managing a P&L and meeting financial targets
Experience with the U.S. Defense Department (DOD) and NASA; familiarity with the international development community
Experience analyzing and influencing federal budgets and navigating public procurement
Ability to work well with others as a team leader
Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (both spoken and written)
Strong organizational skills, and the abilities to work under pressure, meet deadlines and budget time
Ability to take initiative in response to direction from managers and feedback from peers
A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working
Great interpersonal communication skills
8+ years of working experience designing and building construction equipment or in an applicable field
Must have an existing network within current U.S. DOD and NASA customer base
Ability to travel an estimated nine to 12 weeks a year
Must be a US citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the US as a refugee or granted asylum
DOD Secret Clearance (preferred)
MBA or MPA (preferred)
Understanding of government contracting and government buying process
Congressional and/or Executive Branch experience
Government-facing industry experience
