3D Printing Network Engineer

ICON is looking for a 3D Printing Network Engineer  to own connectivity of our 3D printing products and teams in the field. As the 3D Printing Network Engineer at ICON, you will be responsible for designing the necessary systems both inside our 3D printing products and for use by our print operations teams to ensure consistent communications during 3D printing operations.  This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX lab and will report to the Director of Digital Infrastructure.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design network related components installed inside print systems.
  • Test and commission cellular based routers and network subsystems for new 3D printers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues related to the 3D printers.
  • Set up and support wireless networks on active print sites.
  • Document changes made to the printer’s networking subsystems and networked solutions created for site support.
  • Customize and maintain an open-source based tablet operating system for printer tablets.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience working with industrial operation technology.
  • Experience setting up wireless mesh networks.
  • Experience terminating, testing, and tracing cables.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting site to site VPN solutions (hardware and software based).
  • Experience testing cell signal coverage, configuring and troubleshooting cellular based routers and cellular networks.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Network experience (DNS, DHCP, SSL, TCP/IP troubleshooting).
  • Experience working with cellular data based solutions and cellular signal strength testing.
  • Experience working with/developing for PLCs.
  • Experience working with industrial safety systems.
  • Experience working with Linux and Windows IoT a plus.
