Data Insights Software Engineer

ICON is looking for a Senior Engineer for Data Insights to design and implement solutions that use our data to tackle our most challenging problems. As the Data Insights Senior Engineer at ICON, you will apply your problem solving ability, creativity, and technical skills to further ICON’s mission of making dignified housing accessible to everyone and advance humanity with our technology. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX lab and will report to the Director of Digital Infrastructure.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead data insight generating projects that delivery quantifiable business value for the company.
  • Work with business stakeholders, end users, and ICON software team to document business goals, project requirements and underlying software systems.
  • Implement Palantir Foundry as primary data analysis and visualization tool.
  • Build and manage data integrations across all data sources.
  • Develop stand-alone web apps as necessary to support projects.
  • Maintain ICON’s data infrastructure, including Palantir Foundry, Sage Intact, and SQL and NoSQL databases to ensure underlying data integrity.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science.
  • Direct experience wrangling massive-scale data.
  • Experience with Palantir software a plus.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A highly analytical mindset and eagerness to solve technical problems with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
  • Interest in working with and using large scale data to solve valuable business problems.
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail required for data analysis, troubleshooting, issue resolution, reporting and communications.
