Print Fleet Lead

ICON is seeking a Print Fleet Lead to play an integral role in scaling the print operations team in order to 3D print hundreds of homes. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large teams in a construction or manufacturing environment. As a Print Fleet Lead at ICON, you will be responsible for ensuring the execution of successful prints by leading teams of print technicians. You will be responsible for the daily management of three to nine print teams consisting of several individuals each. Additional responsibilities include quality control, contributing to the development of standard operating procedures, and ensuring that prints finish on-time. This role requires significant travel and field work but will be based in our Austin, TX lab and will report to the Director of Print Operations. 



  • Work closely with project managers, and specifically, the Director of Print Operations to train the Print Ops team.
  • Grow and coach elite team members to develop expertise within the Print team.
  • Develop processes and standards to facilitate maximum print efficiency.
  • Keep prints on budget. 
  • Work closely with other departments to value engineer the ICON print process.
  • Work closely with the Construction Purchaser to ensure an efficient material supply chain for prints.
  • Ensure that contract milestones are being met, documented, and communicated.
  • Liaise with Hardware, Software, Controls, and Materials Science teams to execute successful prints.
  • Liaise with Construction Project Managers to ensure that all prints are executed in accordance with Architectural drawings.
  • Work closely with other departments to identify opportunities for greater Print efficiency.
  • Ensure Quality Control metrics are adhered to for all prints.
  • Verify that safety Safety Protocols are followed for print projects.
  • Ensure clear communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.



  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • A positive attitude and leadership orientation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • An ability to identify and hire talent. 
  • The ability to organize and motivate large teams.
  • A proven ability to adapt in a fast-moving, quickly changing environment.
  • A background in construction or another industry with manual labor components. 
  • A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
  • The ability to adapt and stay cool in a dynamic start-up environment.
