Director of Print Operations

ICON is seeking a Director of Print Operations to play an integral role in building the world’s first, livable 3D printed houses. The ideal candidate will have experience building and managing teams in a manufacturing or construction environment. As the Director of Print Ops, you will be responsible for scaling the Print Operations team, including hiring new team members, developing standard operating procedures, quality control, and day-to-day management of team members. A strong candidate will have the ability to collect, organize, and act upon multiple inputs from different departments within ICON with the goal of executing successful prints. We are looking for a team player with the ability to build a team, manage multiple tasks, and consistently meet deadlines. Most importantly, the ideal applicant will be an enthusiastic member of a dynamic startup team which aims to change lives through the creation of quality, affordable, resilient housing.



  • Work closely with the VP of Construction to scale the Print Ops team.
  • Hire and lead Print Captains and Print Techs.
  • Develop, implement and track quality control metrics for prints.
  • Manage safety protocols for print sites.
  • Liaise with Hardware, Software, Controls, and Materials Science teams to execute successful prints.
  • Develop and maintain budgets for all Prints.
  • Liaise with Construction Project Managers to ensure that all prints are executed effectively.
  • Work closely with construction purchasing to ensure an efficient material supply chain for all prints.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for greater Print efficiency.
  • Ensure that all contract milestones are met, documented, and communicated.
  • Ensure clear communication with all stakeholders.



  • 7+ years of experience leading field teams in the construction industry or a related field or another industry with manual labor components.
  • Previous experience hiring, building and developing teams. 
  • Previous accountability for building and maintaining budgets. 
  • Ability to motivate and provide direction for a growing team of Print Techs.
  • A commitment to speed and agility.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
