Hardware Buyer

ICON is seeking a Hardware Buyer who will be based in Austin and report to the Senior Manager of Purchasing. The Hardware Buyer will provide support in setting up new vendors in our system and providing support in seamlessly executing purchase orders as needed. This role will be highly collaborative and cross-functional. You will work very closely with all teams across the organization including Engineering, Construction, and Manufacturing.   
  • Quote and purchase all hardware, metal fabricated parts, and miscellaneous parts and materials as called out on the Hardware Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Schedule and track purchased items to support production schedule and timely communicate any lead time gating issues
  • Ensure the proper scheduling of materials to meet production schedules
  • Assist teams across the organization with setting up new vendors in our ERP system  as needed
  • Prepare weekly reports for Hardware & Purchasing leadership that tracks purchase order activity and possible lead time gating issues
  • Participate in the ICON RFQ process and supplier negotiations
  • Participate in weekly cross-functional meetings with Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree: Supply Chain, Economics or equivalent area of focus is preferred
  • At least 6-8 years of hardware purchasing experience as well as proven knowledge and experience in the RFQ/RFP process, supply chain, sourcing & supplier management
  • Excellent attention to detail & communication skills
  • Ability to work within a highly dynamic organization
