Test and Validation Engineer

Reports to: Senior Manager of Product Test
Vacation: Open
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel

ICON is seeking a highly-motivated hands-on engineer for a position in the Test Engineering group, a team focused on creating robust, data-centric production testing equipment. This team concentrates on mechanical, electrical, software, and controls of reliable construction systems around the world.


  • Establish clear, concise test plans, and control test plan execution with the focus on test time reduction and simplicity to promptly release equipment.

  • Structure a test and validation strategy to root out design issues in regards to reliability, durability, and environmental elements.

  • Create test fixtures and setups

  • Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems

  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits

  • Host, and actively contribute to test result review meetings

  • Interact with various design, manufacturing, and software teams

  • Transfer test procedures to manufacturing where appropriate

  • Support build, debug, validate, and fine-tune equipment for release to production

  • Establish great working relationships with vendors and managing their deliverables

  • Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment


  • BS/MS in Mechanical/Mechatronics (or similar) Engineering 

  • 3+ years of experience in Mechanical/Mechatronics (or similar) Engineering 


  • Demonstrated excellence in an engineering role in either Product Development, Equipment/Machine Design, Manufacturing, or Testing environments.

  • Hands-on skills with diagnostics software, hardware, tools, instruments, general electromechanical/mechatronic systems and measurement techniques

  • Exposure to a wide variety of test systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (pogo-pins, pressure transducers, temperature controllers, current meters, etc.)

  • Versed in SolidWorks

  • Knowledge of various part fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, etching, injection molding, 3D printing, hydroforming)

  • Experience creating technical specifications for automated equipment is highly desired

  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production desired

  • Knowledge of production quality metrics is a plus

  • Preference for candidates with a portfolio showcasing various professional and personal projects
