Manufacturing Engineer

ICON is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our manufacturing team at our Austin, TX lab. As a Manufacturing Engineer at ICON, you'll perform daily tasks as well as strategic planning that support the manufacturing of our products safely, efficiently and reliably. Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by researching best practices; applying knowledge of product design; fabrication and assembly processes, tooling and fixture design and applications, materials and quality control standards
  • Engage with product engineering during the design cycle to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Establishment of in-house manufacturing capabilities in a wide range of aspects, including work instructions, facility layout, assembly line flow, capacity analysis, and equipment selection.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support the development of timely corrective solutions.
  • Assist in managing the Bill of Materials
  • Provide on the floor troubleshooting, process evaluation, and manufacturing support in a fast-paced environment

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or other technical fields
  • 5+ years of full time experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Proven record work in cross functional teams for New Product Introductions (NPI), manufacturing and supply chain with experience transitioning products from prototype to production release
  • Experience with design and manufacturing of large and/or mobile machinery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of discrete and component manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to use first principles creatively to solve a wide range of problems
  • Proficiency using a parametric solid modeling and CAD software, SolidWorks preferred 
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts in to an easy to follow process
  • Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with long hours and tight deadlines
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
