HR Generalist

ICON is looking for a HR Generalist to support ICON’s growing team. As the our first HR Generalist at ICON, you will serve as first point of contact for HR inquiries and needs, creating a seamless support experience for the team as we further ICON’s mission of making dignified housing accessible to everyone and advance humanity with our technology.This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX lab and will report to the Director of HR on ICON’s People team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound questions and concerns from assigned employee groups, liaising with senior teammates for complex and/or sensitive matters.
  • Build working relationships with managers and supervisors to support ongoing awareness of HR related challenges and provide strategic support. 
  • Process and document organizational changes including new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations. 
  • Manage the onboarding process and collaborate with the recruiting team on new hire orientation.
  • Administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management.
  • Guide and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a dedicated HR role. 
  • Degree or certificate program in human resources, finance, accounting or related field preferred. 
  • Focus on customer service and the experience of internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to think analytically and proficiency with common HR metrics. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Thorough understanding of human resources best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
