Disaster Relief Project Manager


Reports to: Head of Project Management

Vacation: Open

Travel Requirements: <20% (4-6 weeks)

ICON is seeking a Disaster Recovery Project Manager to play an integral role in building some of the world’s first 3D-printed houses. The ideal individual would have a minimum of 5+ years of program management experience in disaster relief construction and a comprehensive understanding of the entire construction process from Pre-Construction to C/O as well as an understanding of program management. This individual will work as a member of the Construction Operations team and will liaise internally with the print operations team, and externally with clients, architects, subcontractors, city inspectors/administrators, and government agencies that focus on disaster recovery. This individual must be able to manage the full construction project, including, budgeting, plans, bidding, scheduling, quality control, inspections, and completion. Most importantly, the ideal applicant will be an enthusiastic member of a dynamic startup team, which is creating dignified, resilient housing.




  • Manage communication with the government entities to ensure constant progress.
  • Work with individual homeowners to confirm qualification for a government subsidized home.
  • Develop strategies, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and execute disaster recovery projects.
  • Track project efforts across multiple teams and organizations to increase communication.
  • Coordinate program updates across organizations to push the project forward and increase visibility.



  • Oversee construction of disaster recovery projects to ensure compliance with all standards outlined in contracts.
  • Source contractors in remote locations to efficiently execute construction projects.
  • Draft RFPs focused on home construction that will allow ICON to make informed decisions and spend capital wisely. 
  • Manage and guide contractors as they build ICON homes.
  • Coordinate site visits between invested parties to adhere to various building standards.



We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:


  • Experience working in disaster recovery, preferably related to home construction.
  • Prior construction administration experience with government organizations.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong empathy and a passion for helping people. 
  • A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay cool in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction project management.
  • A proven track record of organization and orderliness.
  • “First to arrive, last to leave” leadership mentality.
  • Proven ability to anticipate next steps.
  • Personality type that “sweats the small stuff” (ie. An eye for detail).
  • Ability to prioritize and stay cool in a dynamic start-up environment.
